Heading to Iceland

Written on February 22, 2010 by mimecine

How my brain feels half the time

Heading to Iceland March 3rd for a week to hopefully wrangle some Icelandic candy over here for Easter-time. If you have any suggestions we are in research mode. Anything, from a place to stay or eat to a hike in nature. People making traditional things too! We will be in Reykjavik, flying to Egilsstader and then driving back on the southern road to Reykjavik, we are on a youth hostel budget- Thanks the suggestions are always interesting!

First, do not miss the lobster soup at Saegreifinn in Rejkyavik. Seriously not to be missed.

Second, I wish I could remember where I bought them, but I have the best all natural, cream wool socks I got there. Just the most perfect, Kiosky socks. I also got an amazing pair of mittens from this co-op: http://www.thingborg.net/

that picture was taken on the island of heimaey and i highly suggest visiting it! accessible by ferry or plane (but not at this time of year). i was there this past august and would say that my favorite hikes and views were from walking the entirety of this little island.
