We are getting ready to launch the American Installment #1 collection so I am reviewing all of our images to remind myself about our travels, we spent 20 days in MA. What a beautiful way to solve a toothpick holder. Seen at the Edgartown diner on Martha’s Vineyard.

SEPTEMBER 13TH and 14TH (That’s Saturday and Sunday) MINI-EXHIBITION #3 is to happen – Cookies!:
What is it about baked goods that gives us so much comfort? How creative is cooking? Who is the baker at the bakery? Who is making all those cupcakes out there? And why do people love cupcakes as much as they do? What exactly is in all of those yummy things? How much damage did the Atkins diet do to the baking industry? Where have all the loving bakers gone…long time passing…
BROKEN PLATE COOKIES is Sophia Loch and Kristina Rim. Both started baking when they were 10 years old but baking only brought them together half a year ago. Since the Summer you can find them on the street in Williamsburg selling their wares and making people happy. We invited them to have a Mini-Exhibition and now in the spirit of the rummage sale they will set up a baked goods table at KIOSK during our annual sale. We are hoping people will gather to pursue two of the great meditative pursuits: shopping and eating baked goods. Perhaps out of this a regular coffee klatch will be born. During this election season we all have a lot to talk about.
BROKEN PLATE COOKIES bake with wholesome, local ingredients using eco-conscious, raw goods such as whole grain flour from Wild Hive Bakery, dairy from Ronnybrook Farm and eggs from Garden of Eve and Knoll Krest. Yumm! Good suppliers = Good Food = Good Business Practice = Goodness for All. When we asked both of them why they are baking and they individually replied quite briefly: “We love it!”. Not a bad motivation. Well, we love eating it and are looking forward to having them at KIOSK for a weekend of sale shopping and noshing and talking to people over in the baked goods corner.

Can things get even more ridiculous, sitting here in Europe I am so embarrassed to be an American. It’s like reality TV has taken over and I have the Truman Show syndrome. McCain / Palin win = KIOSK heads overseas, forget it, over and out. More to come, we are going head to head over this crap….pass this link on and yes, we are going to get political over at KIOSK, how can we not?

About Sarah Palin: A Letter From Anne Kilkenny
By admin on Sep 3, 2008 in John McCain
What follows is an open letter written by a resident of Wasilla, Alaska named Anne Kikenny.
I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992. Everyone here knows Sarah, so it is nothing special to say we are on a first-name basis. Our children have attended the same schools. Her father was my child’s favorite substitute teacher. I also am on a first name basis with her parents and mother-in-law. I attended more City Council meetings during her administration than about 99% of the residents of the city.
She is enormously popular; in every way she’s like the most popular girl in middle school. Even men who think she is a poor choice and won’t vote for her can’t quit smiling when talking about her because she is a “babe”…….

Whoopie, we are on vacation until September 5th! All of us needed a bit of rest and I needed the time to focus on the American collection. We will be having a joint sample sale with Areaware in September and launching the American Installment #1 around September 18th, actually, that is one month from now! DAMN, maybe a bit later. We’ll be writing some posts while on holiday and also web orders will be sent out once a week, with the shipping on us. Sorry for the inconvenience if anyone comes by and just write us if you really need something for your Great-Aunt’s Birthday and you are in a bind and need to pick something up from the shop, I am sure we can make an arrangement. I’m going to eat some smoked shrimp, Tjohoo! Have a great rest of the Summer!!!

HI
I realize I never mentioned the concept of “This Weeks 50% Off” on the blog…
Every week, on Sunday approximately, we choose three objects which we offer at 50% off for the week. It’s a game, the selection is random and the combination of objects generally tell some sort of an odd story. This week is the alma hairpins, geisha cards and kitchen knife. I see some sort of a woman in curlers with the hairpins holding them, playing cards with the kitchen knife on her lap and a murder and the end but that is me. Let me know if you come up with a good tale.

Just a quick note — I’m in Stockholm right now, and my nice silent morning got interrupted by the noise of thousands of glass bottles being dumped in a truck [[ the monthly recycling pickup ]]. Relieved of recycling happening, but annoyed with the sound, I stuck my head out the window to see the recyclers digging through the pile of glass to sort out wrongly recycled items. Here, you don’t dump recyclables in a bin, but you separate clear glass, dark glass, metal, carton, paper, hard plastic etc. Wish NY could do that too.

Just as I was thinking I need to write a post Jiyoni sent me this beautiful snapshot of our Mexican Dishbrushes and some plastic bags she screened with Jason’s KIOSK logo. So inspiring I had to pass it on, pretty much sums up what we are all about. Thanks for the inspiration! Nice !

On-Line Now! Pouches that Jason Rosenberg did during the Plastic Bag Happening. These bags are just great to stuff with stuff. After some use, if you end up getting a hole on it, they mend perfectly with tape (and that looks really good).

This is a link to a video of a cyclist being assaulted by a cop
From BoingBoing:
” Although a judge ruled in 2006 that the monthly Critical Mass bicycle rides could proceed without a permit, the NYPD’s stance remains somewhat adversarial. Though the city has not been enforcing the controversial parade permit law when it comes to Critical Mass, police have been ticketing cyclists during the ride for such infractions as not having the required lights.
A representative for TIMES UP! tells us that the cyclist in this video was arrested, held for 26 hours, and charged with attempted assault and resisting arrest.”
Will be looking into this one…
any comments from the Bloomberg crew?
