New York places to eat
Written on August 31, 2007 by mimecine
so now Klaus from Helsinki (www.fiaskodesign.com) is going to New York and we promised him some suggestions to keep him busy…
Again, first things first, places to eat, none of these places are overly pricey:
We have already mentioned B & H dairy here on the blog but since it is our FAVORITE and everyone should go there I mention it again, the best french toast, fresh juice, old school, radio playing, tiny space, got to support and say hello from us, although they have no idea who we are:
B & H Dairy

New York, NY 10003
tel: 1 212-505-8065
–east village–
For Italian, although it can be a wait except at lunch which can be nice with a glass of wine, we really like good-olde:
Bar Pitti
268 Sixth Ave.
New York, NY 10014
tel: 1 212-982-3300

For an American seafood experience, although more on the pricey side, always a wait and consistently good:
Pearl Oyster Bar
18 Cornelia Street
New York. NY 10014
212.691.8211
Lunch Mon-Fri: 12pm – 2:30pm
Dinner Mon-Sat: 6pm-11pm

Speaking of oysters, we don’t like the food except for the creamed spinach and oysters but it is a great place to duck into for 6 extravagant oysters and a wine, and then to be hungry the rest of the night because you blew your allowance on 6 oysters and a wine
Grand Central Oyster Bar
Grand Central Station
tel: 212.490.6650
–mid-town–
For breakfast, Egg in Williamsburg is the TOPS! I LOVE the biscuit with a scramble on it and roasted tomato plus their coffee rocks, yum, I am heading over there now…damn, get me a southern breakfast any day
Egg
135 N. 5th St.
Brooklyn, NY 11211
tel: 718-302-5151
–williamsburg–
For the perfect Japanese meal, can we say anything more? OMEN… you can go cheap here with the “Omen” soup and some rice or all out with the seasonal menu, one of my favorite things it to go here late night on my own and have a small dish, a vodka soda with lemon and listen to the grandfather clock ticking, very poetic, almost a precursor to a suicide… but really, I have had some of my best meals there
Omen
113 Thompson St
New York, NY 10012
tel: 212-925-8923
–SOHO–
Pizza, this is it, hop in and grab it by the slice at the bar, hot out of the oven, amazing
L’Asso
